REFLECTIONS

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. James 1:23-24 NIVFullSizeRender (1)

I love it when the dogs pass a mirror and see their reflection.  They don’t know what to think.  Danni was getting ready to bark at herself until she saw me with her in the mirror.  You could tell she was confused.

Water is another reflector.  It is calm and peaceful with the sparkle of sunshine reflecting the light on a beautiful day.  At night, the street lights and the moon are reflected just as brightly.  Whatever is nearby can be seen clearly in the water.

The bible tells us to look deep into its contents to see ourselves as we really appear.  If we do not practice what we learn from Jesus it is like glancing at ourselves in a mirror but not doing anything to change.  What we learn needs to be put into practice to make a difference in us and the world around us.

How do you see yourself when you read the word of God?  Do you take a quick glance to make sure you can get by with the way you look or do you look deeply and make the necessary adjustments so you can walk away with a sparkling reflection?  Are you confused like Danni and aren’t sure about what you see reflected in the mirror?

Prayerfully read God’s word today.  Look closely and let it sink deep into your heart and life.  If God reveals any changes that need to be made in the mirror, reflect on them and make the necessary adjustments.  When we look deep at our reflection, we can shine with the glory of the Lord.
