For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. I Corinthians 13:12 NIV
Danni has loads of human friends but her only dog friends are Max and Dixie. She is well-known in the neighborhood as all can hear her if another dog passes her property. She has a reputation from behind the curtains and through the window but not many dogs know her face to face.
Many of us have friends on Facebook who we have never met. The employees of banks, stores and restaurants are people we recognize but do not really know personally. To know is to have developed a relationship through meeting and spending time with them; to be familiar or friendly with someone.
We spend time with God and we know him. We are familiar with his ways. Through prayer and bible reading, the Holy Spirit reveals Him to us but God is so awesome, holy and majestic that it is impossible for us to fully know Him in our humanness. Isaiah 55: 8-9 tells us that his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways. They are too lofty for us to know but God is our Creator and he knows us inside and out better than we know ourselves.
I Corinthians 13 tells us that we shall see God face to face. At that time, we will know him fully and completely just as we are known by God. I John 3:2 tells us, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is.”
We are children of God. It is a fact. It is truth. No one can take that away as our relationship is secure in Christ. What child does not wait to see a loving father come home? The excitement and expectation build as the time approaches. You know he is coming so you watch the clock and can hardly wait for his entrance.
We are known by the one true God. He is our loving, heavenly Father. When he appears, we will be like him and know him as he truly is in all of his glory. Until that time, draw close to him. Let your heart fill with excitement and expectation as you wait for his entrance today.
