I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28 NIV
While at the beach, I met an older dog who wasn’t showing much interest in the water or those around him. The dog’s humans said their other dog had recently died. The dogs were bonded and he was missing his friend. Death had separated them.
Many dogs form attachments and must be adopted together. When the bond is broken they grieve and do not function well. Just as dogs form attachments, so do humans.
A bond is a thing used to tie something or to fasten things together. It is to join securely to something else. Marriage joins people together in a relationship covenant with a lasting bond. Accepting Christ as our Savior forms an attachment between us and our Lord. We are joined together in an unbreakable bond with Jesus.
Ephesians 5 tells couples how to love each other as Christ loved the church. Jesus died to give us life. He is the head of the body which is the church and we are his people. Paul talks of being a bond servant of Christ in Romans 1:1. Just as Jesus willingly gave his life for each of us, we willingly join into a bonded relationship with Him. We desire to be securely attached to our Lord and Savior.
John 10:28 tells us that Jesus will never allow us to be snatched out of His hand. We are secure in the hands of our Savior. He is trustworthy and true. We are held securely in his love. His is an unbreakable bond.
Dogs grieve those they have lost and humans can be separated by death for a time but our bond with the Savior is unbreakable. Death can never separate us from his love. It can only bring us face to face with the one who died to give us life everlasting.
I Corinthians 15:55 asks the question, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” Romans 8:38-39 encourages us by stating, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Many things can separate us in life. Arguments, distance and death divide us but our bond with Jesus Christ is an unbreakable bond! Join yourself with Him today!
