They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42 NIV
Danni attends Bible Study every Thursday morning. Even if I don’t make it, she is there. I would say she is one of the most faithful members of the class and participates in the fellowship of believers on a regular basis.
Is Danni actually getting a lot out of the bible study? Probably not a lot of biblical material is retained but she loves being with the body of Christ. She greets all new arrivals with a welcome that would rival most churches. Danni enjoys the love and fellowship she receives from being a member of the class.
There are many people who might not want to attend church but would love to be invited and feel part of a group. They might crave fellowship with others and friendships found with people who would love them unconditionally. Once there, hearing the word of God proclaimed is a given. The Holy Spirit will take that word and plant it in the heart to bear fruit in due season.
If we only invite other Christians to church, we might not get too many positive responses as they already have a church family. Let God lead you to the lonely, the hungry and the hurting. Develop relationships and display Christ’s love.
Hearing the word of God is an added bonus as they start to know Jesus through love and fellowship. Like Danni, maybe they will enjoy being a member of the fellowship of believers. Who knows, someday they might be one, too.
