OUR GUARDIAN

Let me put it another way.  The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith.  Galatians 3:24 New Living Translation

This is Danni sitting on her perch, looking out the window.  She is surveying her neighborhood and making sure no suspicious looking dogs walk by while she is on guard duty.  The problem with Danni as a guard dog is that all dogs look suspicious and anyone and everything else has her permission to come and go as they please.

It’s good to know that we have someone else watching over us that is a lot more reliable than Danni and has better judgement.  I Peter 2:25 in the Amplified version of the bible states, “For you were continually wandering like [so many] sheep, but now you have come back to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls”.  The NIV bible puts Isaiah 43:2 this way, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”  Now that’s protection!

In this day and age with so many natural disasters, it is good to know that God is in control and he is watching over us, body and soul.  As the guardian of our souls, we have security in knowing that we will spend eternity with Jesus.  He has promised to be with us as we walk through the trials and tribulations and the joys of our earthly life.  Hebrews 13:5 promises us that, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”.  We can rest secure in the knowledge that God has our backs.

When you are tempted to fear or let anxiety get the best of you, remember faith in Jesus makes him your guardian.  No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).  Relax and know you are safe in the everlasting arms.
