TEAMWORK

What, after all, is Apollos?  And what is Paul?  Only servants, through whom you came to believe-as the Lord has assigned to each his task.  I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.  So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God, who make things grow.  The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their labor.  For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.  I Corinthians 3:5-9 NIVFullSizeRender (50)

Patience is a two year old beagle who was on the list to be put down at her shelter.  She needed transportation out of their fast so she could receive a chance to be adopted and start a new life.  A map was made and many volunteers came together to drive Patience to New York.

Each volunteer took a leg of the trip and met the next person at a designated meeting spot where Patience was walked, watered and transferred to another vehicle.  It was a doggie relay race for Patience.  Teamwork made it happen.  Each person did their share and a sweet, little beagle will be rewarded with love and affection at her new home.

In I Corinthians 3, Paul addresses some early Christians who were upset because there were factions of believers who were making their Christianity about from whom they heard the word of God.  Some thought they should only follow Apollos and others wanted to follow Paul.  Paul straightens them out by telling them that it takes teamwork.  Both Paul and Apollos were preaching about Jesus and that was the important thing.

Salvation is a journey.  It can be compared to Patience’s relay to live.  We hear a verse in church that sinks deep into our heart.  Later that week, a friend stops by and prays with us.  At bible study, the leader quotes another scripture that helps it all make sense.  God has mapped out the journey and you are reaching your destination.  Little by little, brick upon brick, your belief is planted and watered and passed on to others.

Are you the one that needs a ride to a new life or are you waiting at one of the stops along the way for someone else?  Are you planting and sowing seed into another’s life or are you watering seed already sown?  Whatever your role, be a part of the team.  Help someone today on their journey to their forever home.
