The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130 NIV
Danni is a black and tan puppy dog. When she lays certain ways, she blends in with the black couch. She sleeps in the hallway at the top of the stairs and I frequently trip over her in the dark. Each time this happens, we both squeal. I tell myself to avoid falling down the stairs, I should turn the light on to eliminate us both breaking a leg. Sometimes I remember the light switch and sometimes I don’t.
As with Danni, I have a tendency to keep tripping over the same things in life. Sometimes I remember to shed the light of God’s word on my situation and sometimes I don’t. The bible is full of light. Psalm 119:105 tells us that his word is a lamp unto our feet and a light on our pathway. So why do we walk around in darkness?
Matthew 5:15 says, “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” When we look into the word of God for guidance, it is shared with others and we brighten up the entire area. We should pray to God for illumination. The bible says that we have not because we ask not (James 4:2-3).
Remember to illuminate your darkness by looking into the light of his word. Don’t keep tripping over the same obstacle in your path when the God of the universe has provided you with the Light of the World.
