COUNTING THE COST

FullSizeRender (121)

“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ”. Philippians 3:7-8

I was contacted that Danni was going to be brought to PetSmart for an Adoption Event by the local Humane Society.  I had been visiting her and knew I wanted to adopt this special dog that had won my heart when she placed her paw on the cage as I walked by the pets waiting for their forever homes.  If I got her at the PetSmart Adoption Event, her adoption fee would only be $50.00.

We went and I also purchased Danni a turquoise collar and harness.  At checkout, my husband appeared shocked at the price.  I told him it was cheaper than adopting at our local Humane Society.  I’m not sure he believed me.

Fast forward, six years.  Danni is suddenly ill and sent straight to an emergency veterinary hospital.  My husband is pulling out his credit card and approving hospitalization for Danni without blinking an eye.  What changed?  He knew Danni.  He had Danni for his constant, loving companion for six years.  He loves Danni and would do anything to keep their relationship close.

Jesus is your constant companion.  He loves you and no cost was too great for him to purchase your redemption on the cross.  Walk with him daily.  The more you know him, the more you will love him.  Count the cost.  What would you do to keep your relationship close to the one who died for you?
